All visitors who do not have a valid military ID will need to apply for a base pass at the Las Cruces Gate Visitor Control Center south of Highway 70 on Route 213. Public visitors cannot use the El Paso Gate, Orogrande Gate, or any other gate to visit the museum.

The Las Cruces Gate Visitor Control Center is typically closed on weekends. If the Las Cruces Gate Visitor Control Center is closed, please proceed directly to the Las Cruces Gate. Security personnel at the gate will issue your passes.

Security Notice: Photography is allowed in the WSMR Museum, Missile Park, and V-2 Building. However, photographing any entry gate or access control point on White Sands Missile Range is strictly prohibited. (18 U.S. Code Section 795 – “Photographing and sketching defense installations”). Persons photographing or appearing to photograph any restricted areas or facilities may have their camera/equipment seized and the photographs permanently deleted, be denied access to the WSMR Museum, fined and/or imprisoned not more than one year.

US Citizens: In order to get on post, you will need to obtain a Visitor’s Pass from the Visitor Control Center, located in front of the Las Cruces Gate. All adult visitors with US citizenship require the following:
1. Valid form of identification that complies with REAL ID standards.
2. Pass a National Crime Information Center – Interstate Identification Index (NCIC-III) background check, which will be conducted at the Visitor’s Center or Las Cruces Gate.

US citizens are able to pre-register online using the Visitor Pre-Registration System. Persons using the Visitor Pre-Registration System should allow for a minimum of 24 hours to allow for processing. Please note that the Visitor Pre-Registration System is only operational during weekday business hours, Mondays through Fridays. Applications submitted on the weekends will not be processed until Monday. Visitors can pick up their passes at the Las Cruces Gate Visitor Control Center in order to visit the Museum.

White Sands Missile Range is an active Department of Defense installation. In general, members of the public will not be permitted to bring their vehicles on post, and will instead be required to walk to the Missile Park and Museum, which takes approximately 5 minutes. Visitors with medical conditions may request an exception to this policy at the Visitor Control Center.

Non-US Citizens: White Sands Missile Range is an active Department of Defense installation. Due to security policies, non-US citizens will be required to present ID, typically in the form of a passport or visa, and undergo a background check at the Las Cruces Gate Visitor Control Center. Non-US citizens are unable to pre-register to visit the Museum.

Non-US visitors will not be permitted to bring their vehicles on post, and will instead be required to walk to the Missile Park and Museum, which takes approximately 5 minutes.

The Museum is closed on all Federal Holidays. The Missile Park may be closed due to inclement weather conditions such as lightning, high winds, etc.
