Brigadier General John Regan

Brigadier General John S. Regan assumed command of White Sands Missile Range on 24 August 2009, following a year and a half assignment in the Pentagon in the Headquarters Department of the Army as the Executive Officer to the Army’s Deputy Chief of Staff for Programs, G-8.

General Regan is a 1980 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and he holds a Master of Science Degree in Operations Research from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. He is also a graduate of the United States Army Command and General Staff College and the United Kingdom’s Royal College of Defense Studies (RCDS), which he attended on a Senior Service College (SSC) Fellowship in London, England.

Following BG Regan’s graduation from West Point, he was commissioned in the Military Police Corps where he served in various command and staff providing direct support to three Army Infantry Divisions, the 7th, 3rd, and 24th Divisions, and the 59th Ordnance Brigade (Special Weapons), V Corps, in Germany.

General Regan’s other key assignments include serving as the Chief of Staff at the Center for Army Analysis, Division Chief for Acquisition and Sustainment in Program Analysis and Evaluation (PAE) Directorate on the Army Staff, and as senior analyst in the Army Financial Management and Comptroller Directorate. He also served on the Joint Staff in the J-7, Operational Plans and Joint Force Development Directorate.

General Regan’s military awards include the Legion of Merit (two Oak Leaf Clusters), the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (three Oak Leaf Clusters), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, GWOT Service Medal, and the Joint and Army Staff Identification Badges.

General Regan is married to the former Mirta Villalba and they have two children, Rodrigo and Bianca.
