Brigadier General David Trybula
35th White Sands Missile Range Commander

Brigadier General David C. Trybula assumed command of White Sands Missile Range, NM on 17 July 2019.  Brigadier General Trybula entered the Army upon graduation from the United States Military Academy in 1989.  He was commissioned as an Armor officer and served his company grade time in Armor and Cavalry units before receiving his functional designation as an Operations Research Systems Analyst. 

Brigadier General Trybula has served at the tactical, operational, and strategic levels.  Over the last 10 years, he served in the following key assignments:  Deputy Chief of Staff for Army Futures Command Headquarters in Austin, Texas; Strategic Initiatives Group Chief for the Under Secretary of the Army, Arlington, VA; Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Resources, Facilities, and Strategy, and Director, Prospective Clinical Analytics, U.S. Army Medical Command, Falls Church, VA; Director, Afghan Assessment Group, Headquarters, International Security Assistance Force, Kabul, Afghanistan; Senior Strategist and Executive Director, Army Science Board, Office of the Deputy Under Secretary of the Army, Arlington, VA;  Chief of Staff, Army National Cemeteries Program, Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.

Brigadier General Trybula’s two combat tours include Operation Desert Storm in Iraq and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

Brigadier General Trybula’s civilian education includes a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy and a Master of Science degree and Doctorate of Philosophy in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin.

Brigadier General Trybula’s awards and decorations include the Office of the Secretary of Defense Identification Badge, the Army Staff Identification Badge, Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit (6 awards), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (4 awards), Army Commendation Medal for Valor, Army Commendation medal (2 awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal (3 awards), National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, International Security Assistance Force NATO Medal, Saudi Arabia Kuwait Liberation Medal, and the Kuwaiti Kuwait Liberation Medal. He is also a recipient of the Order of Saint George and an Honorary Member of the Order of Military Medical Merit.
