Brigadier General Robert Reese
26th White Sands Missile Range Commander

Brigadier General Robert J. Reese was the 26th Commander of White Sands Missile Range. Brigadier General Reese assumed duties as the Commanding General of White Sands Missile Range on 17 July 2003. Prior to this assignment, General Reese served as Deputy Commanding General, 7th Infantry Division and Fort Carson, Colorado, from August 2001 to June 2003. BG Reese was also the Chief, Experimental Force Coordination Cell, I Corps, Fort Lewis, Washington; Commander of the Division Artillery, 10th Mountain Division (Light), Fort Drum, New York; Commander, 3rd Battlefield Coordination Detachment 1, United States Forces Korea, Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea; and Executive Officer to the Commander in Chief, United Nations Command/Combined Forces Command/United States Forces Korea, Republic of Korea.
His career began as a Forward Observer and later as a Fire Support Officer with the 3rd Battalion, 34th Field Artillery, 9th Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Washington. Other military assignments include: assignments as a Maintenance/Assembly Officer and Physical Security Officer, 22nd United States Army Artillery Detachment (Field Artillery), United States Army Europe, Germany; and Commander, 26th United States Army Artillery Detachment (Field Artillery), United States Army Europe and Seventh Army, Paderborn, Germany. After Germany, General Reese attended the Field Artillery Officer Advanced Course, Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and United States Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California. He then attended the Command and General Staff College and School of Advanced Military Studies, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He was then assigned as the Plans Officer, G3, 7th Infantry Division (Light); Brigade Fire Support Officer and Executive Officer, 2nd Battalion, 8th Field Artillery; the Deputy G-3, 7th Infantry Division (Light); and finally as Commander, 7th Battalion, 15th Field Artillery, 7th Infantry Division (Light), Fort Ord, California.
Brigadier General Reese received his Bachelor’s Degree from the United States Military Academy, his Master’s of Science Degree in Systems Technology from the United States Naval Postgraduate School, and a Master’s of Military Art and Science degree from the United States Army Command and General Staff College.
Brigadier General Reese is a Field Artillery Officer and is a graduate of the Field Artillery Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, the School of Advanced Military Studies, and the Senior Service College Fellowship’s Advance Operational Art Studies.
Brigadier General Reese’s military awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (2 Oak Leaf Clusters), the Army Commendation Medal (2 Oak Leaf Clusters), the Army Achievement Medal, the Parachutist Badge, and the Air Assault Badge.
